I'm not sure what people's expectations are of a palliative nursing home but I can honestly say that my Mum and all our family have nothing but good positive feedback for Tippethill. The staff were all friendly and nothing was ever a bother for them. They treated her with kindness and consideration. Their facility is clean, fresh smelling and bright. We would like to say a big thank you to all who helped look after Mum.
My mother stayed here (in the Rosebery Wing) from 5 June 2014 under a Compulsory Treatment Order. Nothing wrong with her other than dementia, but the consultant psychiatrist did not approve of my care for my mother and used the Mental Health Act to remove her. The hospital is set in pleasant green surroundings (which patients can see but are not allowed out into, even with relatives) and the interior is clean and fairly bright. There is a pleasant courtyard. One Activities Co-ordinator is often seen around, even during the afternoon visiting period, but many of the activities which I have seen (eg Connect 4) attract little interest from patients. Most patients appear to have their own rooms, although a few have only a small area curtained-off from the main corridor. Staff are dedicated and professional in their attitude but I do not think they really understand dementia, or human rights. The tv or radio is often left on unsuitable, noisy channels which could only be of interest to the nurses themselves. I noticed a male doctor/psychiatrist trying comfort a sobbing recent arrival by telling her "You are in hospital, you cannot go home because you are not well." Patients are often put in deep reclining chairs from which they have no hope of escape. Twice when I've pointed out patients struggling to get out of them to walk or use the toilet, staff just settle them back into the chair. My own mother is discouraged from walking on the instructions of the consultant psychiatrist, who has no expertise in physical ailments. GPs visit every week, but seem reluctant to challenge the psychiatrist.

I've been using this dentist for myself and my family a while now and have always had a positive experience. The premises are modern and clean, staff are always patient, friendly, polite and prices are reasonable. 10/10 would recommend.
Highly recommend Blue sky dental! After previously having a bad experience at another practice I moved to blue sky dental a few years ago and it has since been the best decision I have made! I used to live in the Bathgate area and have since moved to London. I travel twice a year just to see Dr Paul Murray for my 6 monthly exams as I wouldn't go anywhere else. The practice is very modern and welcoming and all staff are very friendly! If I could rate blue sky more than 5 stars I would :-)

Fab, Friendly Staff. Wonderful support from all the Staff (Administration, Support and Medical.) Makes such a difference when you feel like they are genuinely interested in you. As for the Medical staff, as I have a Chronic disease I am a frequent visitor. My GP (Dr McCallum) has been fantastic over the years. He knows what works for me, his approach to treating me being tailored to suit. Same for the Practice Nurse I see, Alison. I've not had the best time at the hands of those in the Medical profession (None of Whom worked here) and without the continued support and understanding from the Team at Newlands I'm not sure I would still be alive. Although feel I should point out that I have had such good care, understanding and support from all the various Doctors and Nurses I've seen. As on occasion I've not been able to see my regular team. Every one deserves time off.
